the secret diary project

the secret diary project started in january 2025 with the idea of sharing with our loved community how precious writing is. throughout 2025, we sourced and collected diaries.

launched in 2026, the diaries were gifted to anyone who placed an order through our shop and asked for one — each containing a special page written by us.

some time ago, a friend gifted me a diary. it was an incredibly cute one. i got my hands on it at a moment in which i needed to understand quite many things about myself, so i felt really excited about the idea of starting to write. for the occasion, i even bought a super nice — and a bit fancy — japanese pen. one of those with very fine lines, whose ink is so dense it almost looks shiny.

on a wednesday, i went to a park and brought my new diary with me.

i sat down, took the pen, and opened my diary. but then, a weird feeling took over me. it was as if something inside me suddenly stopped. it felt like there was so much i could write about, but at the same time, nothing was really coming out. that day, i closed my diary, put it back in my backpack together with my new pen, got up, and went back home. the pages of my diary remained blank. for a long time after that, actually.

everybody knows that a blank page can be scary, but there was something so deeply uncomfortable about that feeling that i couldn’t get it out of my head. it had me thinking a lot. i only began to understand that feeling with time. i realized that what was really holding me back was the feeling that nothing i could write would ever be worthy enough. enough for what? i still can’t say. surely not enough to be permanently imprinted on paper.

but what i also understood was that i did want to feel worthy. that i needed to feel worthy. worthy for myself. for this reason, i understood i needed to go back to where i first felt that way and face it: i had to try writing again. it wasn’t much easier at first, but i knew that with every word, i was training myself to give value to my own life. starting from the smallest, simplest things.

here's a simple exercise to start writing.

you just need to start by taking a piece of paper. then, write down the following information about your current state.( ) day :
( ) place :
( ) energy level :
( ) weather :
( ) music playing :

and that’s actually it! it’s pretty easy — but it’s very, very important to do it with as much attention as possible. being precise and specific. the care you put into it is key.

i truly believe that even the biggest things start with small steps and that, with time and patience, the rest will come. i promise you’ll be surprised by what such a simple exercise can change :)

today, i really have to thank my friend for gifting me that diary. thanks to it, i unlocked something truly special that i will carry with me for the rest of my life. i wish everyone had a friend who gifts them a diary — to the point that i want to be that friend!
